This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Most of my students live in a low socio economic environment. Many of them speak English as a second language. All of them love coming to school! My students are 4 years old, turn 5 and are working really hard at understanding their emotions.
With books and puzzles, I'm hoping to be able to help my young students learn more about these different emotions they are feeling and be able to help them get through to feeling better again.
Since many of my students are English learners, having visuals like the puzzles will really help them better understand emotions and be able to name them. Learning how to get from angry to calm or sad to happy, takes a lot of practice and part of that practice is naming the feelings that are being felt. I also hope the books will help my students be able to relate to the emotions being felt and expressed in the stories and therefore will be able to have more ideas about how to get through tough times.
