This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
These items will help teach my students how to regulate their emotions and understand how their classmates may feel at times.
These materials will help teach my students to have compassion for their friends who may struggle to express their feelings and act out instead of communicating.
The books about emotions and making good choices will give my lower language students a visual as to how they may be feeling. This will give them the opportunity to learn the sign or name of the emotion so they can use it the next time they are having a rough day.
The silly face stickers will give the students a way to express themselves in a fun and carefree way making silly faces with different emotions.
The board games and dice game will give the students a fun and relaxing way to learn how their classmates may be feeling or how they are feeling and strategies on how to cope with the emotions.
The treasure box and items will be distributed at random when a classmate is seen helping a friend or showing compassion and support when a classmate is struggling.
These items collectively teach my students to see the word though the eyes of their classmates and others. I will gauge their comprehension and application of compassion through their ability to help their classmates during a rough day by showing supportive behaviors and kindness.
