Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am asking for books for my students to read, and pencils, markers and erasers so my students can take notes. In September I plan on teaching my students with special needs about Hispanic Heritage through reading "Esperanza Rising", a great story of perseverance and challenge.
Teaching high school students about respecting each other cultures and understanding them can be difficult.
I want to make sure my students have the tools needed to openly discuss and learn through these great books. That's why I am asking for pencils, markers and erasers in addition to the books.
My students come from various backgrounds and I want them to hear stories that represent them, that give hope and inspiration. After our Hispanic Heritage project, I plan on integrating African-American Heritage, Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage, and so many more cultures throughout the year to help these students create a world of inclusivity.
