This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
12:1:1 Alternate Assessment classroom is filled with students who have been diagnosed with varying forms of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Emotional Disturbances. As part of our regular instruction, we take a whole-student approach to education that teaches more than just math formulas and historical facts. We teach about culture and ways people around the world express themselves to teach the whole student. As part of our English and arts class, we dive into culture and art eras that have impacted all people on our planet. Furthermore, in order to enter to enhance and grow the whole student, we do multimedia projects and biographies on pertinent Artists, like Van Gogh, Jackson Pollack and Andy Warhol so the students become aware of things that happen in their community and across the world and learn how to express themselves through art!
As a teacher, it is important to make sure we are preparing individuals to enter the world and become productive citizens by teaching them the culture and artsof the world.
With these Chromebooks, my students will dive deep into evolving topics like Art and the artists who make it while gaining skills that will help them successfully enter the adult world after graduation!
