This is a special group of students, because they are my first class. As I start my teaching career, I look at these students with excitement, because I know these precious kiddos and I are about to start a learning journey together. I begin my first year in a rural school that qualifies for school-wide Title I. My second graders (7 or 8 years old) are in for a super fun year of learning!
I have a diverse group of readers, and I am dedicated to foster growth in their reading, at all levels.
I have students who have "cracked" the code of reading, and I have students that are still working on the basics. Regardless of where my students are on their reading journey, I see them eager to snatch up new reading opportunities.
My Project
This 6-Person Listening Center with CD/MP3/USB Player will be used during centers in my class to further support my balanced literacy approach for reading instruction. It is just as important for my students to be listening to fluent reading as they hone in on their own reading skills. The Classroom Classics Read-Alongs Set will provide me with four small-group sets of high interest books that my students will be excited about!
Not only will a listening center support their literacy, it provides a FUN place for kiddos to explore books!
This inclusive approach provides the enjoyment of literature while taking the pressure off of being able to fluently read the stories. Students, regardless of reading level, can participate in this activity and discover a love for reading!
