My Students
Our class is the only self-contained class in fourth grade at our school, which means we are together for all core subjects. Because of this, our classroom community is strong. We work hard to foster a community that thinks positive, and we are working hard on obtaining a growth mindset. We are adding ‘yet’ to our daily vocabulary and keeping in mind that there is such a thing as productive struggle. We are problem solvers and solution seekers! Go Jackets!
My Project
If the basic needs of students are not met, learning will not take place. This project will completely fund a full year of readily available snacks for our class. Our class has the last lunch of the day at 12:30, which means they go nearly 5.5 hours without eating. I have been providing snacks as I can, but I can not fund them the entire year by myself.
Hungry learners are not learners. Many of my students rely on school food to get fed, and many receive donations from the backpack program. They desperately need to be fed between meals!
