This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach dual language in a small neighborhood in Texas. My students are English language learners. They do their best every day to learn the language while learning their academics. I enjoy helping them to succeed and be proud of themselves for who they are and where they come from.

All of my students are motivated to come to school every day to learn and be successful in life, despite the difficulties they face at home.

They come from low-income families, where parents have to work really hard to provide them with all their needs.

My Project

Students need whiteboards in my classroom on a daily basis at different times of the day. They use them during guided reading, guided math, and centers. They practice weekly sight words, dictated words, dictated sentences, and math strategies using whiteboards. Since they are used constantly, they do not last long. Along with the use of whiteboards, comes the frequent use of erasers. During centers, I have been making paper copies for students to work on, but it is hard to keep up with all the copies they need. Having sheet protectors will eliminate the use of paper copies.

By donating to my project, you will help 24 low-income students have the materials they need in order to succeed.
