Art class in the middle school has been cut. We need materials to engage our students to foster their creativity. Our students need to have the experience of arts and crafts to spark their interest in art!
My students range from sixth to eighth grade students in the middle school.
They have the opportunity to sign up for different classes at the end of the school day. These classes are to teach them something interesting and spark extra-curricular activities. My students attend a rural school district with approximately one hundred students in each grade level. They range from learning support to gifted students. I will have a range of all ability types in my classes. Our students are facing tough times, due to the recent budget cuts in our school district. We need help getting supplies for these special classes to expose our students to different activities.
My Project
I am requesting materials to create friendship bracelets and lanyards! We will need embroidery floss to make different colored friendship bracelets. The pins are used to anchor the floss as we learn the different braids. We will be adding the beads to the bracelets as we braid. We will also be using the plastic lacing to create different colored lanyards. The beads can also be added to the lanyards as we braid! These bracelets and lanyards will given to friends, staff, and community members of the students in the class. They will be able to create any kind of bracelet or lanyard in my class. I learned to make these as a young girl and loved trading with my friends. I believe that my students would also love to learn a craft that they can take with them to create great crafts!
Donations to my project will allow my middle school students the opportunity to learn how to make friendship bracelets and lanyards.
They will keep the products that they create and be able to share their new craft with others in our community. Our students need to be exposed to arts and crafts, due to our art classes being cut in the middle school. Help our students learn to create great crafts that they can share with other members of our community!
