My Students

I teach Elementary Music at two buildings in UCS. I am passionate about music and want to share that with my students. They are creative, intelligent, inquisitive, musical and always wanting to find new ways to have fun with music. We do lots of movement activities. They love playing instruments and are working on learning to read music

I am passionate about doing everything I can to make a difference in my students' lives and help them to be the best students they can be.

My Project

My students love music class and I do everything I can to give them a well rounded musical education. We have a band program that begins in sixth grade so students are exposed to playing brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. I have a variety of classroom instruments that I use with all grades, but none of them are string instruments. Because of the size of a ukelele, my students as young as seven would be able to use them, all the way through the end of elementary school. We begin reading notes with rhythms in second grade, solfege in third grade and recorder in fourth grade. My hope is that ukelele can be used throughout and then focused on in fifth grade to get ready for band the following year.
