My Students

My students are 11th and 12th grade beginner piano students learning to play for the first time. We currently use a piano app along with keyboards that were funded through grant money to learn the basics of music reading and piano technique. My students work each day to improve their technique and skills. Meeting every day for one semester, each student in the class has the opportunity to progress at their own pace. The piano skills taught in class can lead to a lifelong love of music and playing.

My Project

My current 11th and 12th grade beginning piano students will be able to learn basic piano skills and techniques not only from the current video game-style app we are using but also from Alfred’s Basic Adult All-in-One Piano method book if our project is funded. I want to see my students’ love of music grow. These method books would provide my students with another means of learning to play piano, which is an opportunity many of them would never otherwise have. My students will be able to take the musical knowledge and skills they learn and class and continue to play throughout their lives if they so choose! The gift of music is one that can be appreciated now and for the rest of their lives! What an amazing gift!
