Learn to Love Reading and Learning

My Project

As a first year teacher, my novel study collection is slowly building. I would love for an opportunity to give my students the chance to love reading. Reading can have a huge influence on the students, especially as we read together. I hope to use these class novel sets to work on inferencing skills, character analysis, as well as using evidence when writing. Not only that, but with the nonfiction selection of books, we will be able to look at history from a new lens and combine reading and social studies in an exciting new way.

I hope that by having more books to read as a class, the more enthralled the students will become with reading.

I want my students to look forward to our class novel study and use it as the time to delve into a book and learn more about each character's story. Through Donors Choose, I know that the books I have selected will have the students glued to the pages and let out groans heard when we have to end our time reading these wonderful books.

I want to provide my students with the opportunity to read books and love them!

I also selected supplies and activities that I hope to use during indoor recess as well as "soft start mornings". I want my classroom to be a safe place where students can enjoy coming to learn.
