This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have special needs that require personalized attention. Their autism already presents a challenge to social interactions, so musical activity can be that bridge to connect my students to each other.

The castanets and boomwhackers (musical sound tubes) can be the social activity that gets them interacting with the entire class.

Many of my students have isolated themselves in their own world so a group activity centered around the rhythm of music can have them emotionally connecting to their classmates. In addition, the Active Play Kit offers children a chance to engage with their environment. Every child deserves the opportunity for equal access to the curriculum because the investment we make in them today, benefits all of us in the future.
