Help me give my students the joy of reading chapter books. In my experience, students enjoy reading more when we read the same book together. It shows them how fun and enjoyable reading chapter books can be.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In 3rd grade, kids start transitioning from picture books to chapter books when reading independently. I teach in a low socioeconomic school so my students don’t have the means to purchase these books.
My goal for this project is to show students how enjoyable reading can be.
In my experience, this transition can be overwhelming for kids. I find that when we start the year off reading a book together, they see the joy in reading and how fun it could be. After the read aloud, they seem more eager to read more because they’ve learned how excited and fun reading can be.
Because many of my students are struggling readers, it is important that I expose them to literature that is above their ability to read so that they can find the love of reading and eventually get them to read more on their own. By donating to this project, you will help 25 students realize the joy in reading.
