Do you remember what it was like reading a textbook in fourth grade? Was it boring?
My students are avid readers.
They love reading books. They attend a school in a small town in Mississippi. They attend a school in a district that refuses to let students fall behind. Some of my students are from a low socioeconomic background. Some of my students are English language learners. My students know there are high expectations, and they will rise to the expectation every time.
My Project
With the different nonfiction books, we will be able to learn about different social studies and science topics in depth. With the social studies books, we will be able to read about events from different views. We will learn about the Civil War and Civil Rights. I am requesting different natural disaster books for my students. With these books, we will be able to practice reading skills as well as learn about these topics.
Which would you prefer, textbooks or a book with lots of pictures and detail?
Donate to my project to expose students to the real world. This will give students background knowledge and make them better readers.
