Mrs. Kopas from Washington DC is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

In our classroom, kids share. Kids ask each other questions. Kids learn through play! I am amazed every day by their complex thinking, joyful fart jokes, and unique personalities.
A future generation of scientists and engineers are constructing and connecting educational pathways through their neurons, fingertips and giggles.
So far this year, we have built boats out of aluminum foil, towers from cups, and a rolling lunch box bin with an old milk crate and a scooter. These kids are innovators!
The Laws of Science...whew... they're tough for a six year-old: "Why is the Sun smaller than the Earth?" "What do you mean the world is round?" "I can't touch the moon!"
Whole-group science lessons work to answer these kinds of questions, but there is soooo much background knowledge missing from my kids' vocabulary.
TABLETS in the classroom can help to fill these gaps. While I'm giving small-group instruction or working with students one-on-one, the other scholars will use the TABLETS to expand and dive deeper into lessons. For example, a scholar will be able to scan a QR code linking them directly to an article, video or programs that are directly related to gravity, ocean currents, moon phases and other academic content. They will be able to explore space to see the far reaches of the universe from the big carpet. Scholars will discover science in action, AND supplement the background knowledge they're missing while staying engaged in learning.
