My Project
Our 5th-grade students are eager to explore, create, and discover through hands-on learning. To make this possible, all of these materials will bring our lessons to life and inspire curiosity and independence in our young learners.
We use a variety of materials to provide hands-on activities that connect directly with our curriculum to deepen the understanding of academic material.
The mason jars will be used for a Social Studies lesson in our unit of Colonial America where the students will make butter from cream. The dry erase markers will be used when the students are in cooperative learning groups and demonstrate their ideas and thinking on white boards. The weaving boards will be utilized for a project that intertwines Social Studies and Art. All of the materials will be used to promote a productive and fun learning environment for all students that also encourages independence. Food items are used as group or class rewards, as we promote community-minded students.
The “office” materials will be used to create items that help to organize and create an environment for our 5th-grade students that allow them to be independent thinkers. Your generous support will assist in providing a memorable year for them as they get ready to leave Elementary School and head off to Middle School where they will need to be self-reliant.
