Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is in the inner city and the majority of the students come from low-income families that qualify for free meal plans. We have come back to school to do in-person learning and we are currently adjusting and understand what we need to help students become successful.

My students are hardworking students who persevere despite any challenges they are faced with at school or in their personal lives.

I love how my students are resilient and love participating in my class. A normal day in my class would be students collaborating with each other, explaining to each other strategies in math, and having sophisticated debates about science claims.

My Project

Help me give my students flexible seating with new, low tables to meet the learning needs of all my students. Currently, my students sit in traditional school tables and chairs, many of them broken and they wobble. As we all know, students have been slowly adjusting after learning from home for two years. Some students have discovered that they learn better sitting on the ground or standing up.

My vision with these low tables is to have students sit comfortably like they would at home so that they can focus better.

Research shows that humans have different ways of learning and I would like to meet each and every learning need of my students so that they can be successful in my classroom.

These tables will also create more room in the classroom to place science tables so that in the future we can conduct science experiments.
