Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten partner and I plan to create an hands on unit that allows our students to learn about plants and butterflies. We will be teaching our students about the parts of a plant, the functions of these parts and the life cycle of a plant. After learning about plants we will move on to learning about butterflies. We will learn about the parts of butterfly and their life cycle.

After our students have the basic knowledge we would like to get them immersed in these concepts by getting to watch them happen right in our classroom!

We will be using the seed starter kit, soil and seeds for our students to experience the life cycle of a plant from the beginning. We will be using the butterfly kits so that our students can see the butterfly life cycle in action. We will be using investigative notebooks for them to record their observations.

We will culminate this unit by using the sensory garden to move into our unit on the 5 senses. We are hoping to end this school year with fun hands on science units to engage and utilize the many academic skills that they have learned this year! We can't wait for the fun and excitement our students will have getting to get hands on with these conecpts!
