Learn Anywhere With Lap Desks

My Students

The students in my class attend an urban school district with limited financial resources. Most of the students receive​ free or reduced-price lunch. Many of them have experienced crime in their lives and find it difficult to come to school. It can be overwhelming to know how to help. They are sweet kids with big dreams. They dream of learning, being successful athletes, helping their families, and reaching their full potential.

Many of these students must overcome obstacles such as poverty and uncertain home situations.

A high-quality educator can make a significant difference in a student’s life. When I look at my students, I see unlimited possibilities. Overall, my students living in poverty are just like other children, but they can encounter limitations and barriers that make it harder to learn, including students whose first language is not English. My main goal is to give each student the chance to have success in school and beyond.

My Project

These desks will be used for in person instruction. In order to keep all students and staff safe we will be maintaining 3 feet between all masked students in the classroom. These desks will allow for more flexible seating options for my 5th grade students while we learn and grow together.

My students will love having the opportunity to work outside of their regular chair and this will allow them to do just that in a safe manner.

Teaching requires lots of thinking outside the box and these lap desks allow for just that! Along with new sensory tools, students will be able to relax and learn at the same time!
