This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Once a week, the kids in the special needs unit at my school come to my library. They always come with joy, curiosity and lots of energy. One in particular, staying in one spot, will bounce or hop for a minute or so. It's what he does when he's happy. In fact, it's what a lot of them do when they're happy- or when they have a little energy to burn or when they just need to dance it out or shake it off. For some, it's a documented part of their condition.

What I want to do is place a mini trampoline with a handle in their dedicated classroom where they can burn through that fidgety energy in a positive way, with one or more adult professionals making sure they're safe.

Please help me make this a reality. These kids are sweet, but they don't always have a good way to work out their joy, their nervous energy or their wiggles. With this trampoline, we can make it easier on the kids and hopefully, a little bit easier on the adults who work with them.
