My students need 2 Leapfrog Leappads and some educational software to help support reading, problem solving, and other Transitional Kindergarten and kindergarten skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the early electronic learning devices many of us had? Did you have Speak and Spell or Alphie the robot? I know Leappads are as great, and I want to provide them for my students.
My students are 24 wonderful Transitional and regular Kindergarteners.
These children are overcoming challenges every day, as they grow up in a very low income (free lunch) school in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. My students are new readers and they are so proud. My students are facing some really tough times for little guys and they are the ones who lose out the most. With the cuts we no longer have a library and next year will have packed, full day TK and Kinder class. The children have limited opportunities to try out new forms of educational technology and I am trying to help them overcome all limitations
My Project
I wish you could meet one of my students. A minute after walking into my room, you would be so impressed by how enthusiastic and motivated my little ones are. They just want to grab your hand and tell you all the things they can do, read you all the words they know, and tell you what reading list they are on. My young students just began reading today. They are so excited and there is no stopping them. I am asking for some interactive reading games, to help further their reading development. Leappads are great hand held devices, which look like iPads, but they are for reading and math. The children want to play, but for as much as they are playing, they are learning.
I had an extremely successful class of readers last year, and I credit a lot of it to all the amazing Leapfrog products I have in my classroom. We have 2 Leappads and they are the best. I want to offer more children the opportunity to use these great tools.
I am asking for Leapfrog Leappads and Leappad Games to help the children continue their reading development.
These materials are based on characters and stories the children can relate to, play independently and continue to help motivate
