My students are 4.5 to 6 year olds (TK and Kinder). These children are overcoming challenges every day, as they grow up in a very low income (free lunch) school in a suburb of Los Angeles,California. My students have just begun to learn how to read and are making it very known to everyone, as they are so proud. We are using a Rainbow Word program and the children are eager to get to the pot of gold, by reading all their words. Everywhere we go (library, office, etc) the children announce and point out sight words they see. They pick up books and make up words and try to read them. Most of my students do not have opportunities at home to use computers or leapfrogs and I want to offer those opportunities in my classroom. My students want to read and learn and unfortunately I can't sit with each student as much as they need. So the tag system will allow the children to read books independently
