Leaping into the Future with Great TK and Kinder Kids.
My students need a few LeapPad 2 systems, headphones, batteries and headphone splitters to help them develop more in language arts and math through technology
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students can be and do whatever they want to do in life. I do not want my students hindered because of lack of funds at home or in the district. I want my TK and Kinder students to be avid readers and love to read books on paper, online and more. I want my students to exceed all expectations.
My students are 24 wonderful Transitional and regular Kindergarteners.
These children are overcoming challenges every day, as they grow up in a very low income (free lunch) school in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. My students are new readers and they are so proud. My students are facing some really tough times for little guys and they are the ones who lose out the most. With the cuts we no longer have a library and next year will have packed, full day TK and Kinder class. The children have limited opportunities to try out new forms of educational technology and I am trying to help them overcome all limitations.
My Project
I wish you could meet one of my students. A minute after walking into my room, you would be so impressed by how enthusiastic and motivated my little ones are. They just want to grab your hand and tell you all the things they can do, read you all the words they know, and tell you what reading list they are on.
My young students just began reading today and next year will start learning day one. They are so excited and there is no stopping them. I am asking for some interactive reading games, to help further their reading development. Leap Pads are great hand held devices, which look like iPads, but they are for reading and math. The children want to play, but for as much as they are playing, they are learning.
I had extremely successful classes of readers the last few years, and I credit a lot of it to all the amazing Leapfrog products I have in my classroom. We have 3 Leap Pads and they are the best. I want to offer more children the opportunity to use these great tools.
With the donations you will help improve the opportunities my students have to learn to read.
They can work independently on reading programs and math programs. Unfortunately, I can not work with each student one on one at all times and with these Leap Pads the children can review and practice independently. So often today computers are used for just games. With Leap pads they are used for educational games only. With the headphones and splitters I can have many more students participate.
