My students need these 5 Tag pens to go along with the over 30 LeapFrog Tag books that were donated to them. This would help foster their independence and confidence.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all," Jacqueline Kennedy once said. My student's thirst for new books is at a level that I am maxing out my library card with each new theme.
My twenty ESL Pre-K4 students are extremely eager to learn through playing and reading.
Like the rest of the population at our Title-1 school, the majority of my students are on free and reduced lunch. Our school's motto is "Work Hard, Be Nice" and that is just what my students do. They wake up and arrive at school at 7 and stay until as late as 5:30 each day. We make it a point to read as many books as we can during the day through each of our lessons. While our school does not have a library for the elementary students, we are lucky enough to have many public libraries in our city. Unfortunately due to the cost of traveling that means that many of our families are unable to go to the local library to check out books. That is where I come in. Our local library allows me to check out up to 60 books at a time for a maximum of six weeks. I constantly change out our books to allow the students to be exposed to as many quality books as possible.
My Project
Today I discovered a large box of Leapfrog Tag books that had been donated to our school last year (not through Donors Choose). Each book was still packaged up in the cardboard and had never been used. I inquired as to why and found out that this was because we did not have the ability to purchase the LeapFrog Tag System that allows a child to read the book independently. With the LespFrog pens I am requesting, our students will be able to work on print concepts such as left to right movement, and help foster their confidence in becoming readers.
I feel that if we were to get the Leapfrog Tag System pen then this would allow for us to bring these special books into our classroom as an additional center. This will allow our students to read these books independently or with a friend during centers. I am asking for five pens, one for each of our Pre-K4 classrooms. We are a close knit group and would be able to not only share the pens but at least have one on hand at all times for the students.
Your donation will allow students to go over to the center and pick a book without having to see if anyone can read it to them at that very moment.
The students will be able to read! Reading is fundamental and by improving their confidence in reading we will be enriching their lives for all time.
