Leaping Into Literacy Review

Help me give my students the tools we need to review all the literacy skills we learned throughout the year in a fun way!

My Project

My students have been working so hard all year on mastering their literacy skills. They have been working through specific skills each week to improve their reading and writing. As we near the end of the year and students finish our reading curriculum we have some extra time which allows us to review the skills we have learned in a fun way!

To wrap up our learning I hope to create hands-on literary centers that review the concepts we learned during the year while sparking excitement in my students.

I would use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to purchase materials to be used during our reading centers and then be stored in plastic containers for easy student access as well as a safe space to keep them for students to use in years to come!

While students are working independently I will be meeting with a small group of students. To manage interruptions during this time, I will put on our "silent slug" light. When this light is on it will signal students to be working at the appropriate voice level as well as not to interrupt our small group.

In addition, a visual timer will help students self-monitor through our rotations and the chime will be a gentle signal for students to move to their next activity. Throughout our rotations, students will have the opportunity to earn tickets to be traded in for incentives such as pencils with positive affirmations or their all-time favorite incentive... Jolly Ranchers!

I look forward to giving my students the opportunity to practice all they have learned this year in a new way that they are excited about. Thank you for your consideration of helping my classroom!
