Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in a low income area in Maryland. The school services about 700 students in grades Pre-K through 6th grade. What makes our students special is they face many challenges in their environment. Such as violence, poverty, and language barriers. I teach Pre-K students, and a lot of time these students are experiencing a school environment for the first time. I want to give them a chance to be able to build on their technology skills through the use of laptops and iPads.
Giving students the opportunity to use technology in the classroom will help enhance student's learning engagement.
My students enjoy being able to get on the classroom computers and play fun engaging learning games. One of my parents told me that due to my teaching and her son having access to the computer he was able to learn the letter sounds at a faster rate.
My Project
I teach Pre-K and one of the centers is the Technology Center. This project would allow my students to have more access to technology in the classroom. As of right now, I only have three working computers, but with the use of the VTech toys and LeapFrog Interactive books my students will have the opportunity to use technology to help enhance their learning.
Students will be able to use the VTech toys and LeapFrog Interactive books to help reinforce the literacy and math skills being taught in the classroom.
In addition, preschool students want to have fun and learn. With the use of this technology being available they will be given the opportunity to have fun and learn.
