My Students
Help foster independent and diverse first grade learners by them being able to listen individually during center time!
I teach a diverse group of learners including students whom have special needs, speech delays, students whom speak English as a second language and students whom are gifted.
These students attend a charter school where we focus on hands-on, differentiated learning where all students needs and learning styles are met through many diverse ways of learning.
My Project
My students need new headphones in order to help them during centers. Centers are a huge part of learning in first grade and the listening and computer centers are two of the most enjoyed and useful centers. Through these centers, I am able to differentiate learning for all of my students. My students whom are on a lower level, can listen to stories, which helps them remember the sounds and make that connection when they are reading. My students whom are on a higher level, can listen to more complex stories and then complete higher level thinking tasks and use more complex computer games and websites.
BUT...the only way they can do these amazing things is with good headphones. They need to these headphones in order to use the listening center (Tag readers) and the computer without disrupting the other children that are working around them. They are able to focus much more when they have headphones on.
