Do you remember what it was like to have a new and exciting toy that kept you engaged for hours? The LeapPad is this 'toy' yet it is also an educational tool to help students learn how to read, write, add, subtract, learn geography, and so much more!
My 1st grade students have a thirst for knowledge and they yearn to learn all that they can, but are lacking the tools to do so.
My students are growing up in a high poverty area where many basic needs are not being met. They love coming to school and having exciting and engaging activities to participate in. I want to be able to provide my students with as many educational activities and opportunities as possible for them while also exposing them to opportunities that they may not have at home, for example technology. Several students do not have computers or the Internet at home and often do not know how to utilize these tools accurately. I would like to be able to provide more students with this opportunity in the classroom.
My Project
I am hoping to provide my students with a LeapPad and many LeapPad games in order to teach students how to use this tool to help them to learn. There are many games and apps that assist students in learning phonics, building comprehension skills, learning to add and subtract, and many more skills! Learning seems limitless with a great tool such as the LeapPad! This learning tool will also help meet the needs of children with different learning styles. Every activity adheres to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. It will also help children with their fine motor skills.
The LeapPad is a fantastic learning tool that my students would be thrilled to have.
They are amazing kids who are full of life even through all the struggles they go through. I have learned so much from working with these wonderful kids and would love the opportunity to be able to give back to them a fun and engaging learning tool like the LeapPad.
