Leaping into Learning a New Language

My students need resources in Spanish as well as English in order to be able to learn their new language. I have a very diverse group of English Learners that are needing support and intervention materials.

My Students

Our students belong to a Title I school in Oklahoma. We take great pride in our school. This is a high-risk school with low-income students, there is a huge diversity of children with different needs and attributes.

Our school is now the home of the District Wide ESL program.

With this program, we bring in a wide range of different cultures and languages.

We support quite a few new students each year that move in from the local military community.

We enjoy working together and getting to know each other better. We would love to have new resources to use in class to continue to motivate and keep us interested in the new up and coming trends.

My Project

These materials will make a huge difference in our students' educational life because they are coming from countries all over the world and are needing resources to help them understand their new language as well as have books in their native language.

We have chosen Bilingual books that would help the students feel comfortable learning a new language while being able to maintain fluency in their native language.

We are in desperate need of books in both languages so our students can maintain their fluency in their native language while learning a new one.

Our students are coming from all over the world, having resources that are in their own language makes the students feel more connected to their peers and their new environment.
