Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are beginning their journey in becoming life long readers. They love to listen to stories as well as help read whenever they can. The LeapFrog Tag Reader books, Scribble and Write, and LeapFrog pads will help my students appreciate literature and develop literacy skills they need.

My students approach life with the enthusiasm and curiosity that all five-year-old children seem to have in abundance.

Despite living in a low socioeconomic area where their parents struggle to make ends meet, they are incredibly hopeful and looking forward to the future. Their parents want the best education possible for them, but due to financial constraints, many cannot afford to have many books or technology at home. It is up to me and the school to provide these wonderful, amazing, eager, and bright kids with a wide selection of literature and technology to enjoy. We are a Title 1 school, which means that we do get funds to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantage, but not enough to provide every classroom with a well stocked classroom library and much less with LeapFrog Technology. These kids will be our future leaders. They deserve to have their curiosity fed through literature and technology. The LeapFrog Tag Technology is a great tool to go about it.

My Project

The main objective of having LeapFrog technology in the classroom, is for my students to enjoy and grow to love reading. I want them to become life-long readers who read for pleasure. The LeapFrog Tag Reader books would help my students build self-confidence in their own reading abilities and thus create an enjoyment of reading. My students would be able to practice their decoding skills in a fun interactive way and receive help in a non-threatening way when they feel they need it. The LeapFrog technology would also help my students develop other literacy skills, such as spelling and vocabulary, that they need to be successful students.

Reading is an activity that I want all my students to love as much as I do.

The LeapFrog Tag Readers, as well as the other Leapfrog technology that I am asking for, would definitely aid in this goal. My students would have an interesting selection of books to choose from as well as every opportunity to read at their leisure. They will be able to learn letter formation and sound, develop a higher vocabulary, and reading comprehension. All which they need to become successful students.
