I am asking for 5 Leap Frog Epics for students to use in a structured activity. The students will independently use the tablets to hone into core competencies such as collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, & problem-solving that advocates the need to teach to help students thrive in today's world.
I am educating students to prepare for the proper foundation for higher education, jobs of the future, & our future generations.
Our school is a “Top Gains” school that increased the School Performance school by 20 points in 2016-2017. It is the second largest school in the parish. Parents can elect to enroll their children from different school districts to our school. Since the students come from various households & backgrounds, the faculty & staff are consistently employing strategies to enhance instruction & students’ individual learning. The students are eager to learn, are engaged in digital curriculum, & want to succeed. Preparing the students for success in school, work & life, opportunities to learn 21st-century skills are essential. They not only provide a framework for successful learning in the classroom but ensure students can thrive in a world where change is constant & learning as and learning never stops.
The use of technology is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math and ELA. Using the workshop model in math and ELA, students come to the rug for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The Leapfrog Epics will extend the activity, but will have the students practicing math and ELA individually. This will allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. The students are acclimated to tablets, they are user friendly, and Leapfrog devices are safe using extensive parental controls. The devices will engage easily distracted students who have focusing issues.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
