Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an urban school, serving students from lower income families. Many of our children are one grade level below in reading. Our students need extra interesting activities to encourage them to read. After reviewing data from the Leap Pad Company, I saw that student reading performance can be improved by an impressive rate. Many of my students need help with simple words and letter recognition. We do many activities to help our students in this area. At our school, we teach using different learning styles. The LeapMat uses different senses to encourage learning. We use games, letter games, and letter recognition with magnetic letters and word sounds in our reading program. The LeapMat will be a great resource in our class. Students learn more when they have interesting and fun systems. It is the primary goal of our school to give excellent instruction with resources that meet the students where they are.
