Leap Into the Future: Geometry Pad in the Math Classroom

My students need an iPad and protective case.

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Ford's classroom raised $733

My Students

Technology is the present. I present my students with the right tools for future success, and the iPad offers a critical link between student achievement and preparedness for the future. We use the iPad to enhance traditional pedagogy with modern applications.

I have the privilege to teach at one of the most diverse high schools in Massachusetts and the most diverse in the city of Boston.

Our school is a large, inner-city community, with a majority of students from families living at or near the poverty level. Our students are some of the highest achievers, and we have a strong, classics-based curriculum. We believe all of our students deserve high expectations and the proper support to attain them. However, as our students are high performers, our school receives little to no funding. Your donation will help us acquire additional materials to bring technology into the mathematics classroom and enhance the learning experience.

My Project

My classes will be using the Geometry Pad application. Geometry Pad allows students to study the relationships associated with various math topics on a coordinate grid. The application allows students to use the tools of mathematics to foster classroom discussion and deeper analysis of the concepts. The visuals provided by the iPad would enhance student achievement. Students are currently using a modified version for the classroom. This project would allow my students individual application of the Geometry Pad program.

My students will be prepared to face the challenges that await.

Future jobs and opportunities will require the skills in operating touch screen technology and applications. Your donation will allow us to enhance our mathematics curriculum.
