Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My high school students are enrolled in Digital Design and 2D Studio Art classes with me. In Design classes, they train for Adobe industry certification in professional design programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
In art classes, they focus on personal expression through two dimensional art techniques such as painting, printmaking, and drawing.
My Project
Help my high school students immerse themselves into art history with the gift of Scholastic Art magazines. My art and graphic design students want to understand how the arts are a reflection of their historical time period. They need to connect the ways in which our visual culture is influenced by the art of past historical periods. The Scholastic Art magazines feature articles that will help my students absorb art vocabulary as they learn about individual artists and their creative contributions to cultures around the world. This is especially important due to the fact that so many of my students don't have exposure to museums, galleries or other cultural institutes.
