My students need additional Leap Start reading materials and caddies to keep their materials organized. They also need bingo dabbers to find and locate sight words during sight word practice activities.
I have a wonderful group of struggling readers who really need to practice reading a variety of genres to improve and reach grade level expectations. However, many of my students struggle with their attention and prefer technology based activities and hands on learning.
Our school district provides free breakfast and lunch to all students, which speaks to the high needs of our students.
Funding is limited and therefore as a teacher, I find myself spending a good portion of my own money to support my classroom needs. Therefore, for this project in particular, I am reaching out to you for help.
This year, I was granted several Leap Readers and Leap Pads with help from donors who chose to fund my project through DonorsChoose. The students love these pads and pens! However to keep things new and exciting, I think it is important to keep fresh reading materials available. Therefore, my hope is to gather more reading materials for the existing Leap Pads and pens! In addition to the Leap Readers, I also hope to add a few needed items to our existing learning centers. Stamping pads, dot-dots and other crafts keep these learning centers fun and exciting.
Learning centers are opportunities for students to practice previously taught skills independently. Therefore, it is important to keep these centers current with new items so our students stay interested and self motivated. Centers are visited during our Reader's Workshop. This is a time where students work in specific groups with the teacher on reading skills they need to master. Then other students work on independent skills in a variety of areas that help them gain additional practice.
Leap readers, caddies and stamping pads are essential for keeping current learning centers fun and new for students to visit.
Please consider supporting our project since it will help shape our students' futures.
