Please help a small special education class achieve literacy goals!
I teach in a high needs community, where the majority of the students in my classroom qualify for free lunch.
My class is a Language Enriched Kindergarten class, which means that students in my classroom qualify for the class by having significant speech and language impairments. My students receive intensive language instruction throughout the school day. Much of our school day is set up in small group learning centers, because my students are on so many different academic levels.
My Project
I am requesting a Leap Frog Literacy Center for my classroom. Having taught before in another school district with a Leap Frog Center, I was able to see first hand how much this specific product helped my students achieve their literacy goals. Because this product is leveled and multi-sensory, students are able to take advantage of the many reading tools Leap Frog offers, at their own pace. The Leap Frog Literacy Center is a great tool for differentiation. In most special education classrooms, differentiation is the key to academic success, and my classroom is no exception! My students definitely learn best when they are able to work in small, targeted learning groups.
Additionally, many of my students come from low-income households where they are not exposed to technology. The Leap Frog Literacy Center is a hands-on technological tool that allows students to explore literacy in an exciting way!
