Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What makes my students special is that they show up and try their best every day. My students are literally movers and shakers, and they learn best when moving in some way. I love to let them move as much as possible to help keep their brains active but also engaged in the lesson.
Our school is currently an IB candidate school with a focus on STEM and agriculture which gives the students a chance to move and create hands-on.
Students love to see what new project we are going to do ever day and are excited to be able to get their wiggles out.
My Project
My students need two ten-drawer organizer carts, stools, and stay and play balls to help them sit at their desks and still be able to fidget and stay on task. They will be able to sit at their desks in wobble chairs, peanut pillows, and inflated cushions while completing assignments and staying on task. Students can wobble their way to better reading fluency and comprehension and math skills. This is especially important in third grade where students are tested and the scores of those test determine whether they move on to fourth grade.
Wobble chairs will keep my students focused on reading passages to help them be prepared to be more successful in school.
Students need to move to process and retain information, and these chairs and cushions will allow my third graders to do that. With your donation, you can help very low socioeconomic students get a fighting chance to be as awesome as I know they are!
