Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have taken on the courageous role of improving a sense of community at our school by being involved with Leadership class. Together they have mapped out a fun school year for students to increase their sense of belonging through school-wide activities like Hispanic Heritage Week, grade-level dances, Halloween Spirit Week, attendance celebrations, seasonal celebrations, and many more.
We need your help to promote these events by supplying the tools we need to create fantastic posters that get the word out around school.
The aprons will ensure that students clothes are protected while they're working. The various colored paints will help us create vibrant posters that get attention. The painters tape will ensure that the posters don't take paint off the walls and create more work for our custodians. The wipes will help us clean up afterwards since we don't have a sink near by.
This select group of students were brought together to improve our school community. We are currently a Tier 3 intervention school with low test scores and low attendance rates. Studies show that when students feel they have a voice, have a sense of belonging, and want to be at school, they do better in the classroom. Our motivated Leadership students need your help to give that to our entire student body.
