Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 8th grade leadership class has decided to create a "Comfort Closet" for students at school who are lower income. The closet will contain not only uniforms students can use if they don't have any (or they can pick up a uniform and drop off their dirty ones to get washed), but the leadership class would like to extend it to items that students may not have access to readily, such as:
feminine products
Shampoo/Conditioner
Deodorant
Hair supplies (hair ties, combs, brushes, etc)
Socks
Toothbrushes & toothpaste
body wash/soap
This is a first for our campus, and we need help getting things off the ground. This is something they are passionate about starting, please help us make it successful.
My Project
Most 8th graders are only concerned about themselves. Their lives are consumed with Fortnite, Tik Tok and Snapchat. My 8th graders are ready to give back and make a lasting impact on their peers, their campus and their community.
These are kids who were just "placed" in a class because they didn't have any other elective class to go to, and they have all emerged to truly be leaders on campus.
Help them get their project off the ground and show that people truly do care about a small campus in a not-so-nice part of town. Any donation, no matter how small, matters!
