This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It is important that students feel their classroom is a safe place, where their individuality is encouraged, and where they are helped to see how education could help them with future successes. Having necessary materials, and family involvement will help students to excel and become confident members of society.
They are 21st-century learners, which will make them globally competitive in their future endeavors for jobs, college admissions, training, and any other path they choose to take.
It is important that their critical thinking processes are exercised and developed to help them with their challenges.
My Project
The “PowerMyLearning Family Engagement Innovators Program” will place students in the teacher's seat at home by having them learn the material, then teach it to a caregiver at home. The caregivers will communicate with the classroom teacher by completing assignments, and sharing the experience.
This is a win-win situation.
Students will focus on what they are being taught, so they may reteach it at home. Every opportunity helping students with comprehension, critical thinking skill, reading, sharing and caring is received with open arms. Caregivers will become comfortable communicating with the school, hopefully, building a strong connection, support, participation and understanding of today's learning strategies.
