Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am blessed with a group of 15 Kindergarten friends this year. We are part of a low income, full inclusion school. Many of the students do not come from an educated background. Because of this, many have little to no exposure to anything educational prior to coming to Kindergarten. I also have students in my class who do not speak English as their first language (English is the primary language spoken at the school I work in). We all work very hard to learn our names, letters, and numbers; basically building out educational foundation. The progress that I see in each student makes my heart happy. They always try their best in everything they do.

My Project

We are finishing up our first nine weeks of school and I could not be more proud of the progress the darlings have made! Most students are already able to identify their letters, tell their sounds, and write their names! We are starting to learn to read and write words. This means we are working towards reading and writing books!

Through your donation, we can build lifelong leaders with a love of reading.

Our goal is to build our reading and writing stamina through practice and perseverance. We will use the materials donated through this Donors Choose project to help us read and write!
