This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Lavern Gaynor is a Lighthouse Leader in Me School, which means our school climate revolves around Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

My plan with this grant is to incorporate children's books that reinforce the Leader in Me habits into our classrooms.

All of our primary classes are buddied with intermediate classes. My vision is to have sets of these books in the intermediate classrooms so they can "buddy read" them with their primary buddies.

This idea supports Habit 4, Think Win-Win, because it gives my intermediate students practice reading aloud and gives my primary students an additional opportunity to learn about the 7 healthy habits.
