I teach special education math to three classes of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at a public school. As a school, we’re working hard to build a positive school culture focused on academic achievement. In my classroom, I’ve seen my students become more engaged throughout the school year, coming for extra instruction before school, at lunch and after school.

My students’ appetite for learning has prompted me to request an LCD projector. My students often pick up quickly on lessons I deliver using a white board, chart paper and manipulatives. However, they sometimes struggle to grasp new concepts that I teach using these tools. If my classroom had an LCD projector, my students would be able to learn new concepts in a wider variety of ways that are better suited to their diverse learning styles.

An LCD projector would allow me to deliver lessons more efficiently by conserving paper and spending less time writing, and more creatively by showing pictures, videos and interactive math activities.

By funding this request for an LCD projector, you will help students learn math in creative ways that are suited to their diverse learning styles, and help students become more technologically literate. Your investment in an LCD projector for these students will help push them forward in their pursuit of a deeper conceptual understanding of state math standards and math in their everyday lives.
