This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever walked into a classroom and felt like learning is evident? My classroom is a portable section that is 25 years past its prime. There are no built-in storage units or closets. I have to think of creative ways to incorporate storage for my students without being bulky.

My students are coming into my classroom with very little experience with the way a classroom flows.

They need visual cues to help them navigate their way. With the requested items, my students will be able to feel comfortable and know what is expected of them.

My Project

The zebra cushions, although so cool to look at, provide enough space at my guided reading table so I can meet with 6 students at a time. I currently use chairs provided by the building but they are so clunky, I can only meet with 3 students. Plus, they can be used for storage! The Yacker Tracker will help the students monitor their volume in the classroom. The stop sign will be a huge help when I am individually meeting a student or meeting with a group. Although I do let the students know that when I am with an individual or a group, they can't disrupt me, but they still do. The stop sign will be a great visual for the students to follow.

This project will help prepare my students for success in the classroom and will help diminish disruptions with their learning.

The sooner we can set the classroom expectations, the more learning will take place.
