My Project

At SOAR, our primary focus is on cultivating life skills and job readiness. As a vocational program tailored for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and intellectual disabilities, we are dedicated to equipping our students for post-graduation employment. One of our key initiatives is the development of a lawn care program aimed at imparting the necessary skills for employment in the lawn care industry or for the practical life skill of outdoor space maintenance.

By providing essential equipment such as battery-powered mowers, blowers, and weed whackers, our students will engage in hands-on learning experiences where they will not only acquire valuable safety skills but also gain proficiency in various lawn care tasks.

Securing this equipment is pivotal for the successful implementation of our program, ensuring that our students have the opportunity to actively participate and learn.

Our project goals are ambitious yet essential. We aim for each student to achieve independence in operating all equipment, comprehend the safety protocols associated with each tool, and ultimately, be well-prepared for life beyond graduation, including potential careers across multiple industries.

What truly distinguishes our students is their remarkable enthusiasm and eagerness for learning. Through daily engagement in work-based experiences, we nurture their sense of responsibility and pride in their work, fostering a drive to excel in all aspects of life.
