Help me give my students an area that they are excited to use and feel comfort and security in a beautiful space. The chairs, balls, posters, and stickers are to help them with sel strategies.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students come from a Title 1 school. I do. my best to teach them about mental health and give them coping strategies. Many of my students like myself have generalized anxiety, I do my best to teach them that mental health matters and that it is okay to not be okay. I want to give them a beautiful calming corner. I would really like the materials listed so that my student have the safe space they deserve. The rugs would anchor the calming corner and give my students a place where they can sit or lay and practice emotional regulations away from the class and a place for us to hold our Social emotional meetings/circles. The chairs would give my students a place to sit at our calming corner if the rugs do not have space so that everyone is able to enjoy the space or if they are not physically able to sit on the ground or prefer to sit , the lamps would help our calming corner have ambient lightning to help sooth our senses and make our classroom a relaxing environment, the plants help our calming corner have that nature aesthetic that help ground my students and makes the calming corner a homey feeling where they can feel comfort. Lastly, the breathing technique poster is a breathing exercise I teach my students, the poster will serve as a reminder of our exercise in our calming corner, and the stress ball will help with physically soothing our stress and they have positive affirmations for student encouragement.
