Laundry Detergent to Feel and Look Clean: Creating Dapper Students!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is composed of 55 fifth graders in a general education class, with students with IEPs and ELL learners and special education students such as those with autism.
A typical day in my classroom looks active.
My students are engaged in learning activities that get them moving, talking to their peers, and asking great questions. You will not see a lot of worksheets in my classroom. My students are learning through hands-on experiences.
I teach in a Title I school.
My fifth-grade students come from very diverse families. I am excited to share that my school is a genuinely diverse community. Not only do students come from varying ethnic backgrounds and places, but the life experiences that they’ve had are incredibly unique. My scholars are creative, thoughtful, and full of excitement!
My students are 9 and 10-year children who love coming to school. When school was closed in the spring of 2020 due to the pandemic, not only were the kids wanting to come back but we missed seeing their smiling faces every day.
My Project
Our school has students and families who are in need of essential hygiene materials.
These items would help students be more confident in themselves.
Bullying is a major problem in the world today and if we can help a student with detergent, softener, drying sheets, and many more things to have clean clothes to come to school.
That is why we are requesting several bottles of liquid laundry detergent.
If our project gets funded, we will be able to help families wash their clothes; they can use everything without having to worry about having to buy detergent. With your support, we can help our families feel and look clean. I am requesting several bottles of liquid laundry detergent and dryer sheets and many more things to help them do their laundry.
Not only does this help my students with their hygiene needs, but it also assists in building independent living skills, as laundry is an important skill to learn heading into adulthood. With your support, these materials will help my classroom provide a desperately needed service to my students.
