Help me give my students access to Chromebooks! We use these in the classroom to conduct research, type our writing, and play math games! We can also use them to keep learning in the event we are quarantined!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our fifth grade class in Philadelphia, PA is full of future leaders! Our class is composed of 100% students of color and the majority of us are multilingual. My students are passionate about making a difference, including informing folks about recycling, speaking out against injustices, and resolving conflicts throughout the school. They are funny, sincere, and full of zest for life!
The only thing slowing these students down on their meteoric rise is access to learning materials.
100% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch, and we often find ourselves short on things like pencils, notebooks, and the like. With the right resources, these students are future presidents, CEOs, doctors, and change-makers!
My Project
I am requesting five Chromebooks which students will use in the classroom to conduct research, type their writing, and play math games. These Chromebooks are essential learning tools for my 21st-century learners. They will use these to practice their technology skills as well as to publish their writing projects to broad audiences, viewing math lessons tailored to their individual needs, conducting research on topics they care about, and having fun! These devices allow me to give each student the lesson they are ready for while keeping our classroom light on printed paper supplies and maintaining their privacy and dignity.
In addition, students will be able to use these Chromebooks at home in the event they are quarantined!
This allows families to rest assured that their child will still be learning even as they're taking time at home to rest and recuperate.
