Our student-athletes are some of the brightest and best our area has to offer. Most come from low-income families, and 100% are on free and reduced-price lunches. Out of 25 players, 15 of them have part-time jobs, and still find time to be in the top of their class. With all of this, they still make time to learn and practice the game of golf. What makes our students special is their integrity and work ethic.
They are dedicated to becoming better every day, no matter what that takes!
Golf is not an easy sport. It's a sport that requires a great deal of time and money; two things that our students struggle with. As a teacher, I am determined to do whatever I can to alleviate those problems and allow our student-athletes the opportunity to succeed.
As a rural Oklahoma school, we lack the funding and support for our golf program to be competitive year in and year out. One of the main obstacles is not having a local golf course. The purchase of launch monitors would allow our student-athletes to practice just about anywhere. Launch monitors would provide valuable data to the student-athletes about their swing, ball flight, and ball distance. This would not only make practice easier and more informative, but also give the athletes a competitive edge. Launch monitors are expensive, and without the help of donors, our golf program would never be able to afford them.
