This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The specific books I’m requesting—Piggy and Gerald and Pigeon books by Mo Willems—will make a meaningful difference in my students’ learning by fostering a love for reading and building critical literacy skills. These engaging, humorous stories captivate young readers, making it easier for them to connect with the characters and themes while improving their vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency.
My goal for this project is to provide my students with books that not only strengthen their reading skills but also inspire them to explore their creativity and emotions.
Mo Willems’ books are perfect for teaching lessons on friendship, problem-solving, and resilience—all while keeping students laughing and engaged.
What makes my students special is their incredible curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. They come to school eager to explore new ideas and embrace stories that reflect their experiences and imaginations. Many of my students are emerging readers, and having access to these delightful books will give them the confidence to practice reading independently and share the joy of stories with their classmates.
